Maria Hondroyianni
My name is Maria and I am a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) for children. I was born in Corfu and at the age of 19 I moved to the UK where I studied and got my family. I worked as a SLT for the National Health Service (NHS) in England and Scotland where I saw children in local clinics, kindergartens, primary and special schools. In Manchester I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Studies and in Birmingham I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Language Therapy. I have worked with preschool and school-age children with special needs, behavioural problems, attention difficulties and communication difficulties. We recently moved to Greece with my family where we enjoy the lifestyle and the beauties that this island has to offer. In recent years both in my personal and professional field I have been researching and using mindfulness strategies. I believe that the development of mindfulness is an essential tool for our children (and for us) to learn strategies to cope with the demands of today's society, on the educational, personal and social front.
