Orietta Batzakis

Orietta grew up in Eftalou and moved to the Netherlands at the age of 8, returning to Lesvos every summer and, in recent years, also in spring. She studied Graphic Design in the Netherlands, where she discovered her interest in collage making. After living for 8 years in Berlin, working as a graphic designer, she shifted her path and returned to her roots in Eftalou.
Her practice has moved away from purely screen-based work toward more tactile, hands-on processes such as collage, screen printing, linocut, and cyanotype.
Collage making feels a bit like yoga for the hands and mind. It shifts you out of overthinking and into a more intuitive, present state. Choosing, cutting, and arranging what feels right, rather than what ‘should’ work. The process is simple and grounded, using hands, eyes, and breath, allowing something personal to emerge without pressure. It’s less about perfection and more about letting things come together in their own way, like a flow, a quiet space to reflect and stay connected to the moment.
